Carlton Morris Solo Competition Results

Sponsored by the Heights Concert Band in memory of their founding director Carlton Morris, an independent competition was held this Spring in which band students from KISD were allowed to enter.  The students had to prepare a solo, record themselves, and submit for adjudication.  The winning students received cash prizes and gift certificates to The Band Room and a chance to play a solo at the concert in May with the Heights Concert Band.  Mr. Kelley, KISD Asst. Fine Arts Director, directs the Heights Concert Band.  
The winners were: 
Middle School
  • 1st place Anthony Luberto – 8th grade trumpet player from Union Grove MS
  • 2nd place Audris Cole – 7th grade oboe player from Live Oak Ridge MS
High School
  • 1st place – Tyrese Wring – 12th grade trombone player from Ellison HS
  • 2nd place – Garrett Clark – 11th grade tenor sax player from Harker Heights HS

The winners will perform their solo with The Heights Concert Band on May 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harker Heights High School Auditorium.
