Corbett Lawler served Killeen ISD for 39 years full time and 2 years part time. He "retired" for the last time in 2009. Twenty nine years of his career in education were spent as a campus principal, 22 of those at Killeen High School, 1980-2002. Lawler came to KISD straight out of the University of Texas in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts. He received his Master of Education from Texas State University in 1971.
His wife of 47 years, Roseanne, is a lifelong resident of the area and is a graduate of Killeen High School. Their daughters, Jennifer and Erin, are products of Killeen public schools and now work for Killeen ISD. Their husbands are also employed by the school district. There are five grandchildren; all attend Killeen schools.
He is a member of the Youngsport Church of Christ and has been active in professional associations and community service. Affiliations include national and state secondary principals associations, national and state curriculum development associations, Killeen Optimist Club, Killeen Masonic Lodge, and Sons of the American Revolution.
His hobbies include working on their small ranch on the Lampasas River and helping to raise the grand kids. Lawler believes that all children are "gifts" and that their education is our best chance to build a better world than the one we inherited.
