KISD to Provide School Supplies to Students
Despite the significant challenges associated with the upcoming school year, our mission remains the same, “Teach so that students learn to their maximum potential”.  In order to continue to support all learners, Killeen ISD will provide all students with free school supplies for the upcoming school year with the exception of a few personal items including a backpack, lunchbox, headphones, PreK nap mats, and Secondary PE uniforms. KISD is planning for approximately 45,500 students in the fall.  Children succeed best when they have the supplies needed for class.
A list of items, including personal items, needed for each grade will be released later this summer.
“Families across Central Texas are facing unprecedented times due to COVID-19 and we want to continue to support our students and their families and not cause additional financial burden with the added expenses of school supplies,” said Superintendent Dr. John Craft.
The 2020-2021 school year is set to start Monday, August 17. Online preregistration for current students and Prek and Kindergarten Round Up is ongoing, and new student enrollment will open online on June 1.
If COVID-19 restrictions continue, KISD could consider a hybrid calendar using an extended school year or blending online and in-person learning. The district plans to seek input from parents ahead of making any final decisions.
