Covid-19 Leave Information
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW EXTENDED COVID LEAVE
If you did not use all 10 days/80 hours provided by the FFCRA in 2020, you may apply for the new COVID leave if:
- You receive a lab-confirmed COVID positive test result*
- Caring for a COVID positive/quarantined family member
- Close contact - Quarantine (self/family member)
- Symptomatic and waiting on results (must produce +/- test)*
- Caring for a child whose school/daycare has closed due to COVID-19.
Update: 02/09/21 - Employees are now eligible to receive COVID Leave if they are caring for a child whose school or daycare has closed due to COVID-19. This extended leave is retroactive to January 1, 2021, therefore any employee who was previously absent for this qualifying childcare reason is encouraged to apply.
Q: What type of documentation must I submit with my District EFML application to substantiate my need for this leave as a result of my child’s school or daycare closure?
A: You must submit documentation from the school or daycare provider that states they have closed, which can be either direct communication from the provider (e.g. email, letter, etc.) or a publication on their webpage or social media account. Similar to medical documentation, a downloaded screenshot attached to your application is acceptable.
Q: What if I need to be absent for reasons not related to childcare?
A: The District previously approved an extension of the Emergency Paid Sick Leave portion of the FFCRA (District EPSL), which also applies retroactively to January 1, 2021. Employees may similarly call Human Resources at (254) 336-0045, or email LeavesHR@killeenisd.org, to request this application.

COVID leave is not approved until you receive an approval email from the HR Leaves Team.
