Blue blackground with KISD seal
Killeen ISD Superintendent John Craft announced the hiring of the newest member of the Killeen Independent School District Central Administration Team, Ms. Taina Maya.

Taina will assume her new role as the district’s Chief Communications and Marketing Officer on July 8th. She will be transitioning from her most recent role as the Morning News Anchor for KWTX News 10 where she led the multimedia and broadcasting efforts for the two-hour live newscast for the past nine years. Maya entered the field of broadcast journalism through her expertise in investigative journalism and live breaking news coverage.

Ms. Maya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas.

She established herself as one of the best and most respected professionals in her field acquiring numerous Texas Associated Press Broadcaster accolades, a Lone Star Emmy for her breaking coverage of the Fort Hood Shooting and most recently was named a 2019 Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce Woman of Distinction.
Volunteering for numerous community organizations and serving on nonprofit Boards remains her passion.
Having had the opportunity to work with Killeen ISD on numerous projects to include the Rhett Revolution Anti-Bullying Presentation, which all 10,000 middle school students participated, to the Annual KWTX Spirit Week Pep Rallies, Ms. Maya is very familiar with the district and is excited to become a part of its future successes.
“Taina Maya has demonstrated her abilities as an extremely articulate communicator and has an astute sense of the multiple mediums for which to most effectively reach our stakeholders. We are excited for Ms. Maya to join the KISD team as she is destined to have a profound, positive impact on how we not only best communicate, but also work to market the Killeen Independent School District going forward” Dr. Craft said.
