Minerva Trujillo has been a resident of the Killeen area since 1980. She retired from the Killeen Independent School District in June of 2009 after 35 years of service, with 29 years dedicated to the students of KISD as a teacher, Assistant Principal, Coordinator for Certified Personnel, and Principal of Willow Springs Elementary School, Maxdale Elementary School, and Audie Murphy Middle School. As an Army wife, she traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe and taught in Germany, New Mexico, Kentucky, and Kansas before coming to Ft. Hood.
Trujillo is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico and Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts respectively.
Minerva serves on the Killeen Housing Authority Commissioners Board, Board Development Committee of Girls Scouts of Central Texas, Communities In Schools Board of Directors, and the KISD Education Foundation Board. She is a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association, and the Killeen I.S.D. Retired Employees Association. She is also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen.
Trujillo has been honored with the 2001 Fort Hood Good Neighbor Award, 1997 Texas Women of Distinction (Girls Scouts), 1997 Region 12 Association of Texas Professional Administrator of the Year, 1996 Administrator of the year for KCTA (Killeen Classroom Teachers Association) and 1996 Texas Women of Distinction -Blue Bonnet Girl Scout Council.
Minerva and her husband, Ltc. (R) Arthur Trujillo, now deceased, raised three children: Dr. Laura A. Trujillo-Jenks, EHS Graduate, University of Texas-Austin Graduate (BA and PhD), Assistant Professor Texas Woman's University, Air Force LTC Paul M. Trujillo, EHS Graduate, Graduate of U.S. Air Force Academy (B.S) and Embry-Riddle University (M.S.), and Michelle C. Trujillo, EHS Graduate, University of Texas-Austin Graduate (BA), ABC Post-Production Coordinator, Los Angeles, California.
