National School Breakfast Week

National School Breakfast Week
Each year, the School Nutrition Association (SNA) sponsors National School Breakfast Week during the first full week in March. The theme this year is “Save the Day with a Healthy School Breakfast!” which is designed to show parents, students, and school officials the benefits of starting the day with whole grains, healthy dairy, fruits, lean protein, and other nutritious foods. Per SNA, the school breakfast program serves more than 14 million children every school day. Students who eat school breakfast are more likely to reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math, score higher on standardized tests, have better concentration and memory, be more alert, and maintain a healthy weight. School Nutrition will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and honor his literary contributions on March 2, 2020 by serving Green Eggs and Ham.

At the February 11, 2020 school board meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously moved to approve the proposed resolution to recognize March 2-6, 2020 as National School Breakfast Week in Killeen ISD.
