National School Lunch Week

NSLW 75th AnniversaryKilleen ISD is proud to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the National School Lunch Week during Oct. 12-15, 2021, using the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) theme “Feed Your Creativity with a Healthy School Lunch.” All week KISD will serve fun and healthy lunches that include all the nutrition students need to learn, grow and thrive.

“Texas school children rely on a well-balanced meal to start the day,” Commissioner Miller said. “School lunch week is the perfect way for students to engage and see for themselves the benefits of breakfast and lunch. I applaud the devoted school nutrition folks who continually step up to the plate and ensure the most important meal of the day is locally grown and nutritious.”
This week's menu features a variety of local fresh fruits and vegetables, like juicy, sweet grapes, crunchy baby carrots, and tangy orange wedges.
Some of the entrees that also pack a high nutritional punch are the Cool Veggie Wrap and Chef Salad, containing important nutrients, like protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, to support a productive school day.
KISD encourages every student to enjoy a nutritious school lunch every day this week. Free breakfasts and lunches are available on every campus for all students. Parents can tell their students about the National School Lunch Week events and encourage children to eat a school lunch. More information on the KISD’s menu can be found via our mobile app or by contacting your child’s school.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
