The Hour of Code
Computer Science opens more doors for students than any other discipline in today’s world. Learning even the basics will help students in virtually any career. It is important for every 21st-century student to have a chance to design an app or an algorithm or learn how the Internet works. Did you know that some of our students here at East Ward have begun to tinker with programming? One of our 4th Grade classes has had the opportunity to venture into the world of programming offered by Code.org with the likes of its Hour of Code initiative. To further your child’s leap into programming, we ask that you check out the link to the left labeled Hour of Code and continue their learning while at home.
KISD Deputy Superintendent Takes Time Out for Our Pre-K Students
At East Ward, we place a high priority on reading. Reading is essential to the success of our students. The earlier a student develops their core reading skill sets, the better chances they have in the future.
To drive home that belief, our very own, Dr. Stewart, Deputy Superintendent of Killeen Independent School District, made a trip out to East Ward to spend some time reading to the Pre-K students of Mrs. Bluhm's class.
