2017 TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Mr. Christopher Diaz
Montague Village Elementary
12 years of Experience
My passion is for learning through personal relationships. I strive daily to model what learning looks like, share strategies to help make learning easier, and spread the love I have for learning with my students in a way that is personal and moves the heart of each child. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of families, teachers, support staff, and administration. It is only by the love and support of each member of our learning community that students are ultimately successful.
Welcome to Montague Village Elementary School! I am thrilled to have been chosen to be the principal of this very successful school. I have been in education for 22 years and feel a very special connection to military families. My family and I traveled the world with our Soldier. My three boys and I are very proud that we were able to support our military service member. We have since retired here in the Fort Hood, Texas area.
I am excited to be able to help educate the children of our Soldiers. At Montague Village Elementary, we strive to ensure a quality education for each child. This involves the collaboration of the community, parents and teachers to help each child succeed. Our teachers and staff are some of the most dedicated professionals I have ever worked with, and we consider it a privilege to help your children achieve their goals. We are educating students for jobs that do not even exist at this time. Therefore, it is important that students are taught to think and to problem solve so that they can be successful in the 21st century.
We are growing students not only in academics, but also in leadership. Our world needs leaders who are educated, passionate and who have strength of character. Our hope at Montague Village Elementary is that when a child leaves our school, they will not only be educated in the curriculum, but also have the wisdom to help others in the world around them. We look forward to helping your child reach his/her potential at Montague Village Elementary School.
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”

Welcome to Montague Village Elementary School! I am Mrs. Apodaca and I am one of the two assistant principals here at Montague Village. I LOVE our school, the teachers, students and families. Before becoming an assistant principal, I served Killeen ISD as an instructional specialist and teacher. My husband and I have three children and two grandchildren.
Montague Village Elementary is a special place. Students work hard and teachers have high expectations for your children. We are helping create future leaders and difference-makers! As an added bonus, we have the pleasure of caring for the precious children of our nation’s heroes. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your child’s life journey. We promise to create great memories for your children. They will learn more than you expect them to learn and leave our school with a love a learning.
