Welcome to Oveta Culp Hobby Elementary School, home of the Patriots!

It is my honor and pleasure to be a part of the Patriot family. I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. As a military spouse, I am especially proud to be able to help serve and support our military community.

My past experiences have shown me that it takes a team to help students reach their maximum potential. We will encourage all students to set high goals and become critical thinkers. By working together, we can ensure that the students of Hobby achieve their highest potential. Our remarkable staff, involved parents and committed students will come together to make Hobby Elementary a wonderful place to learn.

Your involvement, partnership and support will be greatly appreciated during the upcoming school year. We invite you to become an active participant in our school community by volunteering and attending school events. Also, please feel free to contact us at any time via phone or email.

I sincerely hope you will take the time to look through our web links and learn about the opportunities available to all students who are members of the Patriot family. Also, check back often to see updates to our website as we work to provide the most up-to-date information possible.

I anticipate the 2016-2017 school year will be a very successful year of learning for our school community. The best is yet to come.

Patriot Pride!

Jen Warren, Ed.D.

I am from the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. I earned a bachelor’s of science in elementary education and special education – speech pathology from Southwest Texas State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. I taught bilingual (1st grade) and English and social studies (6th – 12th grades).  I have served as assistant principal at Oveta Culp Hobby since it opened in 2004. It is my joy to work alongside the staff here to promote learning for each student.

Welcome to Oveta Culp Hobby Elementary School and the 2016-2017 school year! I am Mrs. Locke and this is my 12th year in education. My teaching experience includes kindergarten, third and fourth grades, as well as four years as a curriculum instructional specialist. I received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree from Texas A&M. I have strong ties to our military community. My family has been stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, Hohenfels, Germany, Fort Knox, Kentucky, and here at the Great Place, Fort Hood, Texas.

I LOVE our school and it is my goal to support teachers, parents, and students to provide challenging, engaging, and memorable academic learning experiences. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your child’s life journey.

It's GREAT day to be a Hobby Patriot!  Go Patriots!

Angela Elliott is a third year teacher at Oveta Culp Hobby Elementary School. As a Hobby Patriot she strives to show on a daily basis to her family, friends, co-workers and Scholars(students) four things that define her life. She wants to show you that faith, love, service and perseverance carries her through the challenges and celebrations of her life.

Known for her out-the-box method of instructing; do not be disturbed when you see her whip out a puppet to gain the engagement of her most bashful of Scholars! Providing an energetic and engaging lesson to her Scholars is what she believes makes school a fun place for them to  learn. Her Scholars are expected to think, ask questions, solve problems and learn from their mistakes. After all a true learner should always grow his or her mind.

Her Bachelor's in Social Science with a Concentration has provided her with a reputation to deescalate some to the most intense behavior issues that in reality occur in the field of education using strategies of love, self reflection and responsibility to allow students to correct their own behavior. Practicing what she "preaches" about having a growth mindset and not a fixed one; Angela will continue to attend and  conduct professional developments for Killeen Independent School District while pursuing her Master's Degree in Education and Administration Leadership. Angela is sure that her purpose and passion lies in having  faith, service, education and love for students for years to come!

Still I Rise! (Maya Angelou)
