During the Military Child Education Coalition Student 2 Student National Training Seminar in Washington, D.C. three students from Shoemaker High will make a 50-minute presentation to S2S students from all around the world.

The Student 2 Student leader serves as an ambassador for the school, helping to transition new students by giving tours to students and family members and often greeting guests at school functions. Shoemaker High is the only Killeen school that will be attending the NTS this year. The MCEC National Training Seminar in Washington, D.C. runs from July 22-25, 2019.

The SHS trio put together a presentation that teaches using the S2S Core values as the standard of implementing their S2S program. The top five core values are:  Academics, Service, Leadership, Relationship, and Helping others find their way.

All three of the SHS students attending the NTS are affiliated with the military as military dependents. They were chosen because of their commitment and service to the Student 2 Student program.

Also noted is a new position that MCEC created this year, which is the S2S Student Advisory Council.  Yvonne Cox, a Shoemaker Counselor, was one of two S2S sponsors selected to be a S2S Sponsor advisor; the other S2S Sponsor Advisor is from a high school in Colorado.
Kendell Roberson, senior (2019-2020 S2S President)
Alyssa Pena, senior (2019-2020 S2S Co-Vice President)
Vanessa Van Dorn, sophomore (2019-2020 S2S Leader)

Ebony Varnado (Co-S2S Sponsor)
Yvonne Cox (S2S Sponsor Advisor)
