CHS Wrestling Sweeps Team Titles at Jim Grimm Memorial

With district meets around the corner, Killeen ISD wrestling teams are rounding into form ahead of a postseason push that ideally leads to the Berry Center in Cypress for the UIL State Championships the third weekend in February.

 

SHS teamEHS team wrestle 1-20The Chaparral boys and girls squads certainly added to their cache of momentum over the Jan. 17-18 weekend at the Jim Grimm Memorial at Lake Belton High School in Temple by sweeping the team titles.

 

The Bobcats and Lady Bobcats combined to earn six gold medals in a tournament that featured a number of quality performances from KISD wrestlers.

 

Also in attendance were Killeen and Shoemaker, and those programs produced a combined 13 podium appearances, including two golds.

 

Meanwhile, Ellison returned from the San Antonio Madison Sharyl Pederson Maverick Invitational with two individual champions, and the Harker Heights Lady Knights, who won the Cavalier Classic a week earlier, placed fourth Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association state duals in Wichita Falls, picking up dual-match wins over Prosper and Katy along the way.
