District 16-5A Awards Announced for CHS, EHS Baseball and Softball

A pair of superlatives were among the rewards bestowed upon the 2025 Chaparral softball team after it advanced to the postseason for the first time in school history.
Lady Bobcats catcher and leadoff hitter Mikayla Hudson was selected as the District 16-5A utility player of the year and head coach Jessica Harborth was voted the co-coach of the year along with Lake Belton’s Kelsie McEachern.
Kendal Macklin, Madison Edwards and Anna Rivas-Estiamba earned first-team selection for Chaparral, which finished tied for second in district behind Lake Belton.
“Earning the program’s first playoff berth with this group of players means everything,” Harborth said prior to her team’s playoff debut late last month. “This achievement is a true reflection of their unity, resilience and relentless work ethic. They supported each other through every challenge and pushed themselves every day in practice to become the best they could be.”
Harborth, who also serves as Chaparral’s girls athletic coordinator, just completed her second season in charge of the softball program.
Ellison’s I’Yanah Brown received first-team honors.
Chaparral’s baseball team, which qualified a second straight time for the playoffs, notched three first-team nods –– pitcher Aiden Hurst, catcher Caden Morrow and outfielder Geno Ybarra –– on the 16-5A baseball all-district list.
“A lot of guys have stepped up and led by example, holding themselves and their teammates to a high standard every day, while others are more vocal leaders," CHS baseball head coach Nathan Williams said. "We also challenged ourselves early with a tough non-district schedule, which forced us to grow, compete harder, and trust each other.”
