Ellison's Holland Voted 10-5A-II Offensive MVP
Sidney Holland Jr. spent the season tossing touchdown passes left and right. Recently, the senior quarterback hauled in a score of his own.
Holland rewrote Ellison passing records during the 2024 season while guiding a prolific Eagles offense that spurred the program into the playoffs for the first time since 2017. And for his efforts, the 6-foot-2, 213-pound right-hander was voted the District 10-5A-II offensive most valuable player.
Holland’s superlative award, which took into account his statistics and performances in five league games, highlighted a number of all-district honors for the Eagles, who wrapped up a resurgent campaign Nov. 8 in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
Also included on the list of Ellison (5-6) accolades were eight first-team selections and 15 second-team nods.
Brenham freshman running back Jakoby Dixon earned the district’s overall MVP honor.
Holland, who received one of the Eagles’ eight first-team slots, finished the five-game 10-5A-II slate with 1,612 yards and 15 touchdowns passing, totals that went toward school records of 3,327 yards and 38 TDs. He piled up at least 340 yards passing in four of five district contests, including 382 in the regular-season finale against Waco University.
Running back Daryl Cannie Jr., wide receiver Prince Hall, offensive lineman Aiden Uresti, defensive end Sema’J Howard, linebacker Joseph Fowlkes IV and cornerback Diondre Bell nabbed the other first-team distinctions. Fowlkes, a two-way starter, also received first-team distinction as a returner and second team as a receiver.
The all-district awards for Killeen ISD’s other Class 5A program, Chaparral, were also announced over the Thanksgiving break.
The Bobcats’ Justice Tuimavave and Torrie Henry collected first-team accolades at punter and deep snapper, respectively. Tuimavave (linebacker) and Henry (tight end) were both second-teamers at their full-time spots, as well. Joining them on the second-team list was defensive lineman Bryan Brundidge.
Chaparral, with first-year head coach Tyrell McCrea closed the season with a 2-8 record.
