The Gifted and Talented students from Union Grove Middle School took a field trip to TAP TAP Art School last week.
Students were able to create pottery while learning about art and science. The hands-on experience gave students an opportunity to work with clay containing a mixture of minerals as well as determine the temperature needed to transform soft clay into hard ceramic.
Learning how to use power tools as well as understand how stain and paint can work with different types of wood, provided a chance for students to explore and use their problem-solving skills.
The lessons included researching, collaboratively planning and presenting their side of a topic to a group of students while supporting their ideas.
The UGMS Grizzlies enjoyed the chance to learn in a different environment, while trying new things to peak their interest for the future.
