Skipcha Elementary School is bringing a world of culture to its students.
A new after-school club this year, the Tour the World Tuesday Club, is drawing a crowd of curious students.
ELL teacher Erica Macey and teacher assistant Sonal Bhakta said they were interested in exposing students to other parts of the world for their own enrichment and growth.
On the Tuesday after Spring Break, one of six planned Tour the World gatherings this semester, students heard from a variety of speakers about multiple countries.
Parents and school staff members presented about Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Germany and Italy.
They learned about foods native to those countries, a few words in the various languages and even received some small gifts and a few food samples.
The club meets weekly for 45 minutes after school and is open to the first 20 second- through fifth-graders who sign up.
