Killeen Independent School District continued a longstanding streak and received the Association of School Business Officials International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.
ASBO International presented KISD in June with the Certificate of Excellence for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2023. The district has been honored by the ASBO annually for more than 30 years.
“Sound financial stewardship is a responsibility that Killeen ISD takes seriously. This recognition validates that not only are we providing our students with a great education, but we are also doing so in a financially efficient and prudent manner,” Killeen ISD chief financial officer Kallen Vaden said.
The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.
ASBO International’s Certificate of Excellence recognizes that KISD met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency.
“Communicating the financial and economic state of a district is so important when engaging with the school community and building their trust. Districts that receive the COE Award have demonstrated their ability to do that at the highest level,” ASBO International executive director James Rowan said. “This award represents a significant achievement and reflects your commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting.
“Congratulations to you and the members of your staff who worked so hard to earn the COE this year.”
Vaden expressed her gratitude to the diligent and committed KISD staff that assured all requirements were met in such shining fashion.
“I’m so proud of our financial reporting department for continuing to maintain a standard of excellence,” Vaden said.
