Many happy tears, hugs, and smiles were shared on Wednesday morning as the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated presented a large check with a very special donation for the 5th annual Special Angels Prom this week at Shoemaker High School.
The Killeen ISD Special Angels Prom provides an opportunity for special education students from all the district’s high schools to experience all the joys of high school prom. Parents are able to attend to take photos and celebrate alongside the delighted students experiencing a milestone of the high school experience.
After learning about the Special Angels prom, the fraternity worked together to fundraise over $1,800. “It’s a privilege to be able to be here this morning to present this to you,” President of the Theta Delta Sigma Chapter, Brother Darryl Murray shared. At the end of the fundraiser, the committee wanted to add just a bit more to ensure that the students received a spectacular prom.
The prom will be held on May 13 at the Shoemaker High School cafeteria for all Killeen ISD high school special education students and their parents.
These students want to experience high school moments like everyone else,” prom organizer and special education aide Letha Reeves shared, and they get to do just that. “Every child walks out with a big smile on their face.
