Chaparral and Ellison’s boys and girls soccer teams combined to haul in four superlative honors among a wide-range of post-season achievements included in the recently announced 2025 All-District 16-5A awards.
The Bobcats landed two top distinctions with sophomore Devin Ochoa voted the offensive player of the year and senior Jayden Bennett named midfielder of the year.
Ochoa, who was the league’s newcomer of the year in 2024, tallied five goals and nine assists this season, when the Bobcats finished third in 16-5A and once again qualified for the playoffs. Bennett, a team captain, banked eight goals and three assists.
Meanwhile, Ellison’s Elvin Santana de Jesus bagged the co-goalkeeper of the year award.
The fourth superlative honor belongs to the Lady Bobcats’ Austin Vela-Diehl, who posted a team-high 16 goals for the bi-district finalists.
