While students and teachers enjoy a well-earned summer break, Killeen ISD’s Facilities Services team is full steam ahead –– making sure our schools are ready, refreshed, and even better for the new school year.
This summer, more than 80 improvement projects are in motion across campuses—from small fixes to major upgrades –– all with one goal: creating safe, modern, and welcoming spaces for learning.
One big focus? Cafeteria kitchen upgrades.
Seven campuses, including Harker Heights Elementary and Reeces Creek Elementary, Manor Middle School and Rancier Middle School, and Shoemaker High School and Harker Heights High School, are getting brand-new kitchen equipment. According to Assistant Superintendent for Facilities Services Adam Rich, these updates are replacing equipment that’s been in use for more than two decades –– bringing things up to code and improving efficiency for our hardworking School Nutrition teams.
But that’s just the start.
We’re also:
Replacing roofs at Reeces Creek Elementary and Eastern Hills Middle School
Installing new tennis courts at Ellison High School
Building updated ticket booths at Harker Heights, Killeen, and Ellison high schools
And tackling a long list of gym, field, and building repairs across the district
It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to making sure every KISD student learns in an environment that’s safe, functional, and ready to inspire.
