Killeen ISD trustees received draft scenarios at the Aug. 26 board meeting for District Optimization, a long-range effort to ensure students across the district have access to high-quality programs and facilities. The work focuses on aligning resources, strengthening academic outcomes, and preparing schools for the future.
District leaders invite the community to provide input.
KISD is hosting a series of town halls where families, staff, and community members can learn more and share their perspectives:

In addition to attending a town hall, community members can share their input through an online survey, open from Aug. 26 through Oct. 3, at www.killeenisd.org/optimization-survey. More information about District Optimization is also available at www.killeenisd.org/optimization.
The preliminary scenarios include ideas such as:
Consolidating or closing underutilized schools to direct students to higher-performing campuses.
Repurposing facilities and adjusting attendance boundaries to balance enrollment.
Expanding specialized programming, including dual language, career and technical education, and STEM opportunities.
District leaders stressed that no decisions have been made. The scenarios are starting points for discussion and will be refined with significant community input before any recommendations are finalized.
