Bands' Salute to Veterans

Chaparral Bobcat BandIn a grand and rousing salute to veterans, Killeen ISD wind ensembles from the five high school bands paid tribute Tuesday to America’s military personnel past and present.

Each ensemble took the stage at the Killeen High School auditorium to perform selected pieces that speak to the nation’s struggle and commitment to freedom.

In the end, with a guest conductor with military ties at the podium, the combined ensemble finished out the patriotic program with the songs of each branch of the military.

Assistant Fine Arts Director Amy Bennett praised the band directors and students for working hard beginning in July in preparation for halftime shows and the marching competition season, as well as for the long day of honoring veterans that began with a morning parade and ended with the evening salute.

In the grand finale, Seth Magee served as conductor. He is associate band director for Live Oak Ridge and Union Grove middle schools.
