Continuing to raise the standard on and off the field, a combined 14 Killeen ISD football players, managers and trainers were selected for the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team, which was released Monday.
The list includes eight from Harker Heights, two each from Killeen High and Shoemaker, and one apiece from Ellison and Chaparral.

The THSCA releases these Academic All-State honors six times each school year, recognizing senior student-athletes, trainers, and managers across 14 sports who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement.
To qualify for nomination to the Academic All-District Team, a student must have a coach who is a THSCA member, maintain good standing with their team, display strong moral character, and hold a current GPA of 92 or higher, calculated from grades earned from ninth through eleventh grade, and coursework completed in 12th-grade.
