Ellison for football was slotted into District 8-5A-II (Region II) with Belton, Brenham, Bryan Rudder, Waco and Waco University.

In basketball and volleyball, EHS, KHS and SHS will be in District 16-5A (Region II), joined by Belton, Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch, Liberty Hill, Waco and Waco University.

Non-district football opponents will be announced by KISD teams when finalized.

The UIL said district alignments for all other sports and academic events will be released no later than April 1.

This was the final step in the UIL’s biennial reclassification and realignment process.

Like all school districts across the state, KISD on Oct. 31 submitted to the UIL its high school snapshot enrollment numbers: Harker Heights, 2,259, Chaparral, 2,234, Shoemaker, 2,114.5, Killeen, 1,970.5 and Ellison, 1,731.5. Those numbers determined which classification KISD’s schools fell into for the next two-year cycle.

The new districts go into effect starting fall 2026.
