Killeen ISD earns 34 state awards recognized among texas' top school communications teams from the Texas school public relations association 2025 crystal commendation

Killeen, Texas — The Killeen ISD Communications Services Department earned 34 honors from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) this week, including two prestigious Best of Category awards and a Crystal Award. The recognitions celebrate excellence in school communications across Texas. 

KISD earned 25 Gold, 8 Silver and 1 Bronze Star Awards for work spanning video production, graphic design, photography, writing and strategic communications. 

Among the top honors, the team earned Best of Category recognition for the district’s History video and the 2025 Summer Learning brochure. In addition, Killeen ISD received a Crystal Award for its “Heart of Gold” Staff Recognition initiative, highlighting the district’s commitment to celebrating excellence across campuses. 

“This recognition belongs to a team that works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure Killeen ISD’s story is told with excellence and integrity,” said Karen Rudolph, executive director of communications and marketing. “Having our work evaluated and honored by communication professionals across Texas is a testament to their commitment to this district and to our craft.” 

The recognition from TSPRA reflects not only creative excellence, but also the dedication and professionalism of a team committed to supporting district leadership, campuses, and the broader community. 

The awards were presented on Wednesday during TSPRA’s annual Star Awards celebration, which recognizes outstanding education communications produced during the 2024–2025 eligibility period. Entries are evaluated by independent judges and awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Star distinctions, along with Best of Category and Crystal Awards for exemplary projects.
