Two prolific senior scorers and a head coach no stranger to success were among the superlative recipients on a Killeen ISD-heavy 2025-2026 All-District 12-6A boys basketball awards list.
Shoemaker’s D’Anthony Moore, the Grey Wolves’ all-time leading point-producer who eclipsed 2,000 for his career, and Harker Heights’ Elijah Gibson, who surpassed 1,000 points, were voted the 12-6A co-most valuable players after anchoring their teams’ run to the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Knights head coach Jason Fossett, who orchestrated Heights’ fifth consecutive district championship, was named the coach of the year for a second straight time.
“It is a honor to be voted the district coach of the year, but it is a tribute to the kids I get to work with here at Harker Heights,” said Fossett, whose team went 10-2 in 12-6A and closed the season with a 28-7 record.
In nine total seasons in KISD –– seven with Killeen High (2005-2012) and now two with the Knights –– Fossett’s teams have won district titles in eight of those years.
Moore, who also was the league MVP as a junior, led the district in scoring at 27 points per game. He also averaged four rebounds, three assists and three steals a night for the Grey Wolves, who were second in 12-6A and finished 20-13 overall this season.
Overall, Moore scored at least 30 points in 14 games.
“When I think about D’Anthony Moore, I think about one of the most impactful players I’ve coached. He is amongst the elite who have come through Shoemaker,” Grey Wolves head coach Karron Taylor said. “I knew he was a special player when he scored 28 points in a playoff game as a freshman. His growth and work-ethic throughout his career has been impressive.”
Gibson poured in 18 points per game in district play, adding an average of 4.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
“Elijah is a great kid who got better these over these last two years. He had a great attitude and work ethic, and I appreciate his ability to be coached and take coaching,” Fossett said.
Also earning superlative status was Harker Heights senior post David Blount, who garnered defensive player of the year.
“David started on the ninth-grade ‘B’ team and got better and better every day in practice. His attitude and effort were off the charts, becoming the all-time blocked shots leader at Harker Heights,” Fossett said.
Killeen had a two first-team selections in Trint Robinson and Avery Brown.
