Big Art Day - Cavazos ES

March is a big month for fine arts in Texas and in the schools and in Killeen ISD a day called Big Art Day gave students a chance to participate in a lasting visual art project.

During the first week of the month and culminating Friday, March 6, many schools collected hearts that students made to contribute to a district collaborative art project.

The result will eventually take up space in the new KISD administration building set to open in October on Twin Creek Drive in Killeen.

It’s all about heart and community and expression.

“We are thrilled to have district-wide participation in Big Art Day this year,” said KISD Fine Arts Director Morganne Davies.

“This day of advocacy makes the visual arts visible and accessible to all students in our community and across the state.

"Our HeART project this year provides an opportunity for each individual student to contribute to a greater artwork that is a symbol of the unity and connection in our district,” she said.

“We believe that it is the heart of our students, teachers and staff that fuel and ignite our passion for learning.”
