Killeen ISD student-athletes recently put together power-packed performances at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association and Texas High School Powerlifting Association state meets to close out a strong 2026 season.
First, on March 19 at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Chaparral’s Avery Wiltzius led a quintet of KISD top-10 finishes with a third-place showing in the unequipped 132-pound weight class. Wiltzius, also a state qualifier in 2025, recorded a 250-pound squat, 145-pound bench press and 320-pound deadlift to claim her coveted spot on the podium with the bronze.
Killeen High’s Meleana Price, a 2025 qualifier as well, reached the podium in fifth at 242. Also for the Lady Roos, Aaliyah Abddeen (242+) was eighth and Precious Tauiliili (220) took ninth.
For Shoemaker, Alyssa Dell (114) placed 10th.
Then, on Friday, March 27 in Abilene, Killeen High’s Allan Cellars left his mark with a fourth-place showing in the 114-pound unequipped weight class, becoming the school’s first boys state powerlifting medalist.
Cellars secured the proud podium moment with a 365-pound deadlift –– the unequipped state record in the 114-pound class –– along with a 275-pound squat and 150-pound bench press.
Also for KHS, Harrison Nguyen placed 10th in the unequipped 198-pound weight class, setting a record with a 565-pound deadlift.
In all, the Roos had six lifters compete.
Unequipped requires participants to lift without supportive gear such as suits or wraps, using only standard equipment.
On Saturday, Shoemaker’s Willie Thomas secured one final top-10 for KISD, placing 10th in the 220-pound weight class of the Class 6A equipped competition.
