Killeen ISD student-athletes continued to flex their muscles and brainpower, earning Academic All-State honors during the winter and spring sports seasons.
Ellison basketball player Jadesola Oladipo earned her second-team Academic All-State award from the Texas High School Coaches Association.
Other winter sport student-athletes selected by the THSCA as Academic All-State recipients were eight boys and girls soccer players: Israel Valdes-Munoz, second team, Juan Orduna, honorable mention, Matthew Bryan, honorable mention and N’Mari Smith, honorable mention from Harker Heights; Hannah Stowers, honorable mention, from Ellison; and Levi Robinson, second team, Yiamxel Marino Vega, second team, and Andrew Chavez, honorable mention, from Chaparral.
To be nominated for Academic All-State, an athlete must meet several criteria established by THSCA.
The athlete’s coach must be a current THSCA member, and the student –– whether an athlete, trainer, or manager –– must be a senior in good standing with the team and demonstrate good moral character. Additionally, nominees must have an overall GPA of 92 or higher, which includes all completed coursework from ninth through 11th grade as well as courses completed during the 2025–2026 school year.
Spring sport recipients included Chaparral track and field’s Trestyn Wingfield, Antonio Bunton and Avianna Borja, who earned honorable mention, Shoemaker tennis’ Charles Mark Degano, who received honorable mention, Chaparral baseball’s David Flores, who received honorable mention, and Chaparral softball’s Emily Peterson, who was awarded second team honors.
Shoemaker’s Alyssa Dell (first team) and Harker Heights’ Alexandra Maldonado (second team) and Aaliyah Harris (second team) were recognized by the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association.
In all, 35 Killeen ISD student-athletes, trainers or managers achieved Academic All-State status in the 2025-2026 cycle.
