Killeen ISD performers shined on the stages at various state and national competitions this spring, earning standout honors across multiple middle school and high school divisions.
At the HTEDance and Spirit Group national competition, the Harker Heights Rosettes junior varsity –– led by directors Krislyn Bark and Amy Drozd –– captured two Grand Champion titles in the Small Officers and Small Team divisions.
Under the direction of Jennifer Zehr, the Ellison Emeralds claimed an American Dance/Drill Team national championship in the Extra Small Team category, while Brianna Brower and Trinity Williams earned the national title in Duet competition.
“We want students to discover what they love and have opportunities to excel at the highest levels,” KISD assistant fine arts director Deborah Barrick said. “These students have worked incredibly hard for these honors, and we are so proud to see them represent our district and community across Texas.”
KISD dance teams, officers, small ensembles, duets, and soloists also secured an impressive list of state championship honors throughout the spring competition season.
