Seven Killeen ISD students have been selected to perform in the Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA) Elementary Honor Choir and Middle School State Choir, one of the highest honors for young singers in Texas. Their selection places them among the state’s top young vocalists and highlights Killeen ISD’s continued commitment to creating opportunities for students to excel in the arts.

Each year, more than 1,000 elementary and middle school students across Texas audition for the state choirs, but only about 25% are selected. This year, seven Killeen ISD students earned coveted places in the ensembles, reflecting the district’s strong Fine Arts programs and the dedication of students.

Students selected for the 2026 TCDA Honor Choirs include:
Alexis Keiper, Audre Nelson, Roselyn Sangama, Brayden Sealy, Andy Tseng, Makayla Carraway; Sheila Wanjiru.

We believe every student deserves opportunities to discover their gifts and pursue excellence,” said Deborah Barrick, Assistant Director of Fine Arts. “These students have worked incredibly hard, and this honor reflects not only their talent, but the support of directors, families and schools that encourage them to grow with confidence and pride. We are proud to see them represent Killeen ISD on the state stage.”

Students selected for the honor choirs will prepare and memorize music with their campus directors before traveling to San Antonio in July for a three-day clinic and concert experience. The event will culminate in a public performance July 18 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
