Killeen ISD was recognized as the Lemonade Day Fort Hood Area 2026 Partner of the Year during the fourth annual Lemmy Awards held June 16 at the Harker Heights Activities Center.
The award recognizes KISD's commitment to expanding entrepreneurship opportunities for students across the district. Through increased outreach and collaboration with campuses, KISD helped grow participation in the program from approximately 60 student entrepreneurs in 2025 to more than 400 KISD students in 2026.
This year, KISD facilitated informational sessions for instructional specialists and deans of instruction, helping increase awareness and student participation districtwide. The district also hosted the Best Tasting Lemonade Contest and provided transportation for the Lemonade Day VIP Bus Tour.
Several KISD students were recognized during the Lemmy Awards celebration for their innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Among them was Sofia Posada, an Audie Murphy Middle School student, who earned first place in the Best of the Zest competition, a Shark Tank-style event in which students present and defend their business concepts before judges.
Posada said her favorite part of participating in the experience was "being part of something bigger and connecting with other people and students, bouncing ideas, and learning."
KISD students also earned recognition in the Best Lemonade Presentation category. The team, The Sunshine Sippers, included Adalyn Spencer, Ayva Williams, Divina Rodriguez, Melissa Oliveira and Kasie Stephens.
KISD was recognized by Lemonade Day leaders for its continued partnership, enthusiasm and commitment to helping students develop real-world business and leadership skills. The district's efforts helped create meaningful opportunities for students to explore entrepreneurship, build confidence and discover their potential as future business leaders.
Killeen ISD looks forward to continuing to expand opportunities that help students connect classroom learning with real-world experiences while preparing them for future success.
