Music teachers from Killeen ISD and neighboring school districts completed an internationally recognized summer music institute and celebrated Thursday with a graduation concert at Jimmie Don Aycock Middle School.

About 30 participants from Killeen, Temple and Copperas Cove school districts received 84 hours of course instruction during the three weeks in the Kodály Summer Institute.
KISD Assistant Fine Arts Director Deborah Barrick, the coordinator for the training said this year marked the fourth for the district to host the elite professional development course.
It was the first year that instructors from outside KISD took part and included the first cohort to complete the three-year certification.
In March, the Killeen Kodály Summer Institute received national endorsement from the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE), further affirming the quality and excellence of its teacher education program.
