Killeen ISD's Summer Feeding Program served 85,860 meals this summer, helping ensure children and teens had access to nutritious breakfasts and lunches while school was out.
This summer, the district expanded the program by adding 11 community partner locations, making meals more accessible for families across Killeen, Harker Heights and Nolanville. Partner sites included the Boys & Girls Clubs, Armed Services YMCA, Extreme Cheer and other community locations. Students attending Killeen ISD summer school also received breakfast and lunch on campus.
"We know many families count on these meals during the summer, so it's important that we're able to be there for them," said Karen Rudolph, executive director for Communications & Marketing. "Adding more community locations this year made it easier for families to get the meals their children need, and that's something we're proud of."
Killeen ISD's School Nutrition Department remains committed to providing healthy, nutritious meals that support students throughout the school year.
For the 2026-27 school year, all Killeen ISD students will continue to receive free breakfast. Families are encouraged to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price lunches and other potential benefits. The secure application is available in multiple languages and can be completed in just a few minutes from any computer, tablet or smartphone.
