With Deepest Sympathy - Billy Jay Mills

Killeen ISD joins the Central Texas community in mourning the passing of community leader and dedicated education advocate Billy Jay Mills.

Mr. Mills was a 1971 graduate of Killeen High School and remained a pillar of the community throughout his life. As a champion for local students, he actively gave his time to the district, serving as a vital member of the Killeen ISD Bond Steering Committee to help shape the growth of our schools, and remaining a long-time supporter of the Killeen ISD Education Foundation.

His legacy of care for the Killeen ISD community extended throughout his family. His late father, Tommy Joe "T.J." Mills, served as a member of the Killeen ISD Board of Trustees, and his son, Cullen Mills, proudly continued that multi-generational devotion to public education as a past Killeen ISD trustee.

Killeen ISD extends its heartfelt condolences to the Mills family and the many people whose lives were impacted by Billy.

Statement from Killeen ISD: “Billy Jay Mills was a dedicated member of the Killeen community and had a heart for the youth of the community. Through his service on district steering committees and his lifelong support of our schools, he focused on the success of Killeen's future. For generations past and to come, his family has kept our students a focus, and we are grateful for the profound difference Mr. Mills made in our community.”
