Killeen ISD cross country runners continued to set a sizzling pace Thursday when two varsity boys teams scurried to title, highlighting standout performances throughout the weekend.
Lake Belton Bronco Invitational
Harker Heights junior Blake Zimmerman placed second, teammate and fellow junior Kealin Sandifer was fourth and the Knights boys cross country team swooped up the Lake Belton Bronco Invitational title Thursday morning at Crossroads Park in Temple.
Zimmerman finished the 3.1-mile race in 16 minutes, 21.27 seconds, about 2 seconds behind individual winner Erik Trevino of Elgin.
Junior Blessed Enow placed sixth for Shoemaker, which was fifth out of 13 teams.

Life Waxahachie Mustang Stampede
Damari Patterson posted a third-place finish and Jayden Brown crossed in sixth to help the Chaparral boys cross country team edge Dallas Hillcrest by one point Thursday morning for first place in the Class 5A/6A varsity Life Waxahachie Mustang Stampede.
Patterson completed the 3.1-mile race in 17 minutes, 17.85 seconds. CHS and Hillcrest combined to have eight runners in the top 16. It was Isaiah Millender’s 22nd-place showing that sealed the win for the Bobcats. Hillcrest’s fifth scoring runner was 33rd.
In the girls race, Autumn Scotting was third (20:44.30) to anchor the Lady Bobcats, who were third overall behind Tyler Legacy and West Mesquite.

Lovejoy Fall Festival
On Saturday, Killeen traveled to McKinney where Emiliano Quintero placed fourth overall in the 5A/6A varsity 3.1-mile race. The Roos placed seventh as a squad out of 17 teams.
Deja Brooks was 17th for the Lady Roos in the girls competition.

Hoka Invitational
Also on Saturday, the Ellison Eagles were at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock –– the site of the annual state championship meet –– for the Hoka Invitational. Aiden Hill led the team in 16:50.7 for 116th in a competitive field.
