Pathways Academic Campus students are getting a head start on college while building communication skills they can use well beyond the classroom.
Starting this year, Pathways juniors and seniors have the opportunity to take a new Dual Credit Interpersonal Communication course offered in partnership with Central Texas College.
The course allows students to earn three hours of college credit through CTC while also receiving a half-credit toward high school English and making progress toward College, Career, and Military Readiness requirements.
Bobby Williams, who teaches English, social studies and speech at Pathways, is leading the course and said the experience gives students a valuable opportunity to prepare for what comes next.
“I’m excited about this course because it gives our students an opportunity to earn meaningful college credit while developing communication skills they can use in college, the workplace, and everyday life,” Williams said. “I’m looking forward to encouraging and supporting our students as they take this important step toward their futures.”
Students also received a warm welcome as they began the college-level course. Assistant Principal Ms. Lankford decorated Williams’ classroom door and provided snacks for students on the first day, helping create an encouraging environment for the new experience.
The course is another way Pathways Academic Campus is helping students build confidence, earn credentials and take meaningful steps toward life after high school.
