All five of Killeen ISD’s high school marching bands received top scores from all judges in regional competition to advance to the next level of UIL competition.
The Killeen, Ellison, Shoemaker, Chaparral and Harker Heights high school bands performed in competition Saturday at the UIL Region 8 Marching Contest at Midway ISD Panther Stadium.

Three judges gave all five performances Division 1 ratings, the highest possible. For the fourth year in a row, all five bands advance to the area level of marching contest.
Next, the Killeen Roo Band, Ellison Screaming Eagles Band and Shoemaker Wolf Pack Band will face off with other qualifiers at the Area D 5A Contest on Saturday, October 24 at The Pfield in Pflugerville.
The Harker Heights Red Brigade Band and Chaparral Bobcat Band will compete among 6A qualifiers at the Area D 6A Contest on Saturday, October 31 at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.
"We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our high school band programs,” said KISD Fine Arts Executive Director Morganne Davies.
“All five bands receiving a perfect score of Sweepstakes from all judges speaks to the extraordinary talent of our students and directors. We are looking forward to their continued success as we advance to the Area Marching Contests."

The Chaparral Bobcat Band’s show, “Code of Silence,” uses jazz music and sets, songs and costuming of mafia culture to illustrate fierce family loyalty.
The Shoemaker show, “In Pieces” shows that even when life seems to fall apart, healing can come through working together.
The Killeen High show, “Panachroma,” is a homage to Americana with classic American music and elements of beautiful scenery representing the national landscape.
The Red Brigade Band’s “Midnight Renegade” show incorporates the cowboy mystique in a mysterious, beautiful desert theme.
The Ellison show “Boom Crash Pow,” is an exciting, hard-hitting celebration of superhero origin stories.
