Killeen ISD employees will see a pay increase for the 2025-26 school year, following approval of a new compensation plan by the Board of Trustees on Tuesday.

The plan includes a 3% raise for all non-exempt staff, including paraprofessionals and auxiliary employees such as custodians, bus drivers and school nutrition workers.

In addition, the district is establishing a $13-per-hour minimum wage, meaning any employee not brought to that rate by the 3% raise will be adjusted upward.

The starting salary for new teachers will increase to $59,160. Experienced teachers will see an increase as well. Those with three to four years of experience will receive a $2,500 increase, while teachers with five or more years of experience will receive $5,000. All other professional staff will receive a 2% raise.

Trustees also approved raising the district’s contribution to employee health insurance premiums — from $400 to $425 per month — to help offset rising costs.

“We are grateful to the Board of Trustees for their thoughtful work and commitment to supporting our employees,” Dr. Jo Ann Fey, superintendent of schools, said. “Our incredible staff set the gold standard every day — pouring their talent, care, and dedication into our students and schools. This pay increase is one way we can honor the shining work they do and invest in the bright future they help create for every student in Killeen ISD.”

In other action, the board approved the next steps in several facility projects:

  • Trustees approved the contractor ranking for the Franklin & Emily Pratt Learning and Leadership Center roof replacement project, with Eskola, LLC, as the low bidder at $4.4 million. The board also approved adding installation of a two-ply modified bitumen roofing system, increasing the total cost to about $4.6 million. This project will be funded through the Strategic Facilities fund.

  • Trustees approved hiring Huckabee Architects for architectural and engineering services for renovations at the current Administration Building and the Pratt Learning and Leadership Center. Both facilities will be renovated to serve new purposes following the opening of the district’s new administration building in September 2026. These projects will be funded through the Strategic Facilities fund.

  • Trustees also approved Huckabee Architects to provide architectural and engineering services for relocating the district’s data center from the Killeen Learning Support Services (KLSS) building to Alice W. Douse Elementary — part of preparations tied to the new administration building. This project will be funded through the Strategic Facilities fund.
