Killeen ISD is reminding families of the clear backpack requirement for all students for the 2025-2026 school year — an important part of districtwide safety efforts.
Students may use fully clear backpacks or mesh backpacks that allow visibility from all angles. Small brand or school logos and colored or patterned straps are allowed, but backpacks may not have stripes, patterns, cartoon characters, large logos, linings, or padded backs. Colored transparent backpacks (such as tinted plastic) are also not allowed.
In addition:
Non-transparent bags up to 6” x 9” (such as lunch boxes, pencil pouches, and purses) are allowed.
School-issued cellphone pouches and personal water bottles are permitted.
Athletic and spirit bags are allowed, but must be secured in lockers, fine arts classrooms, or locker rooms upon arrival.
This updated policy is part of KISD’s commitment to a safe, secure, and welcoming school environment for every student.
