🥖💙 Pre-K Family Engagement Fun at Willow Springs! 💙🥖
Our Pre-Kindergarten families rolled up their sleeves and joined us for a fun (and messy) hands-on learning experience — Bread in a Bag!
Families and students worked together to measure, mix, and knead their ingredients right inside a bag. There was lots of shaking, squishing, laughter, and learning happening all at once! 🍞✨
This activity wasn’t just about making bread — it was about:
• Practicing early math skills through measuring
• Building fine motor strength through kneading
• Following multi-step directions
• Strengthening home-school connections
• Making sweet memories together
We are so grateful for our families who took the time to join us. Watching our little Blue Jays light up while creating something from scratch was truly special. 💛
At Willow Springs, we believe the best learning happens when families and schools work together!

🎉⚡ Happy National Pokémon Day, Blue Jays! ⚡🎉
Today at Willow Springs, we “caught ’em all” — kindness style! 💛
Our students participated in a Pokémon Kindness Scavenger Hunt around the school, searching high and low for Pokémon cards while spreading teamwork, encouragement, and positive vibes along the way. It was so much fun watching our Blue Jays show that being kind is the real superpower!
A HUGE congratulations to our two first grade classes--Ms. Ryan and Ms. Mays--who collected the most Pokémon cards throughout the building! 🏆🎉 They will be celebrating with a well-earned Poké-Pop Popsicle Party next week! 🍧⚡
We love finding creative ways to build community, encourage kindness, and make learning magical at Willow Springs!
Way to go, Blue Jays — you proved that kindness, just like a great Pokémon trainer, takes heart, strategy, and teamwork! 💙✨

Killeen ISD is excited to announce that registration for the 2026-2027 school year is open for current students from Feb. 9-March 13, 2026.
Families with students already enrolled in the district can complete registration electronically via the Home Access Center. This convenient platform allows parents and guardians to update student information, provide required documents, and finalize enrollment for the upcoming school year. For current students not returning to the district in 2026-2027, families can notify the district of their plans through the registration form in the Home Access Center.
Students currently on a school transfer who wish to renew their transfer request must do so during the registration period. Failing to renew a transfer request during this timeframe could result in the loss of the transfer approval.
Required Documentation: All students are required to provide proof of residency, shot record, birth certificate and parent ID to complete the registration process. Proof of residency documentation must be related to a permanent residence such as a recent utility bill, military housing order, homeowner insurance policy or mortgage statement.
If families need assistance with registration, they are encouraged to contact their student’s school directly.
The registration process for new-to-the-district students will begin in late spring.

Killeen ISD is issuing a follow-up to the district’s earlier communication about possible student walkouts to ensure families and staff understand expectations and consequences.
KISD supports student expression that is safe, respectful, and does not interrupt instruction. Families may wish to discuss alternatives to walkouts with their student, such as: passive expression (wearing a specific color of clothing, wristband, or button, as permitted by the Killeen ISD dress code), writing a letter or email to an elected official such as a member of Congress, or participating in discussions or community events outside of school hours.
The Texas Education Agency issued guidance to school districts on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, reinforcing that districts must protect instruction during the school day and follow state law and attendance requirements. Killeen ISD will follow this guidance.
In Killeen ISD, the focus remains on student safety and keeping students engaged in learning.
As a reminder, secondary campuses in Killeen ISD are closed campuses. Students may not leave campus during the school day without being signed out by a parent/guardian through the front office.
Any student who participates in a walkout will be marked absent and receive discipline consequences under attendance and truancy policies, as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
Under Killeen ISD policy FNCI(Legal), disruptive activity on school property include actions such as obstructing entrances, exits, or hallways or interfering with school operations. Student behavior that meets this definition will result in disciplinary consequences, including up to a Class B misdemeanor under the Texas Education Code § 37.123.
Killeen ISD respects student free speech and want students to be heard in ways that are safe, respectful, and appropriate during the school day. KISD thanks families for their partnership in keeping campuses safe and focused on learning.
A message was sent directly to parents/guardians of middle and high school students.

💖 February is Random Acts of Kindness Month! 💖
This February, our school is excited to make kindness the norm by using a Random Acts of Kindness Calendar! 🌟
Each day, students will be encouraged to complete a simple, age-appropriate act of kindness—like sharing a smile, helping a friend, or saying something kind. These small moments add up to big impact!
By practicing kindness every day, we’re helping our students build empathy, connection, and a positive school community. 💕
Let’s work together this February to spread kindness at school, at home, and everywhere in between! 😊

Mrs. Barton's skills class had a *slice* of learning fun today! 🍕
