Last week, 3rd graders from Willow Springs visited the Mayborn Museum Complex, located on the Baylor University campus, for a day of field-based learning. Students got the chance to explore this natural science and cultural history museum which focuses on Central Texas. Our blue jays participated in walk-in dioramas, exploration stations, and themed discovery rooms with hands-on learning experiences. What a fun day of learning! #WillowStrong #WeAreKISD #BlueJaysSoar #LearningInAction #kisdkidswinning
School attendance is crucial because it's the foundation for academic success, building essential knowledge, social skills, and habits needed for future careers; missing even a few days can lead to falling behind. Showing up consistently helps students feel connected, confident, and prepared, turning school into a positive habit that truly pays off!
We want to send a huge shout out to our two classes who had the most days of perfect attendance during the month of October--Ms. Dougbe's 4th-Grade Class and Mr. Armas's 5th-Grade Class! Great job showing up each day to learn and grow! #WillowStrong #BlueJaysSoar #attendancematters #WeAreKISD #kisdkidswinning

Congratulations to our 2nd grade teachers, Ms. McMeans, Mrs. Sendejo, Mrs.Morris, and Ms. Bass, who planned intentionally and implemented some incredible reading lessons with their students. The hard work of both these teachers and their students was evident when they were recognized as one of the KISD "Top Quarter" recipients for the 1st 9 Weeks Benchmark Assessment. The Willow Springs Second-Grade had the second-highest score in the entire district! Thank you, teachers, for setting high standards for academic success! #WillowStrong #WeAreKISD #BlueJaysSoar

To all of the veterans in our Willow Springs community:

Look at these 2nd Grade Scientists in Ms. Bass's class! They used a variety of materials to demonstrate that small items can be combined to form new objects for different purposes. Students were able to explain that they chose materials based on their physical properties, using items that would work best together.
Thank you for making learning fun, Ms. Bass! We are so proud of your little blue jays and their amazing work!

Ms. Somerville's kindergarten class has been learning that there are recognizable patterns in the natural world and among objects in the sky. They took advantage of the beautiful day to observe, describe, and illustrate the Sun and objects in the sky, such as clouds. When asked what they were doing outside, the students responded in unison, " We're watching the sun!!!" The students went outdoors multiple times throughout the day and recorded changes to the sun's position in the sky! Wow! Way to go, Blue Jays! Keep up the amazing work!

Some of our tiniest blue jays in our ECSE class participated in a fun "Do Now" morning activity today--mixing colors in bags with various colored paints! They used this unique variety of art materials for an engaging sensory experience while also exploring math and writing conventions (writing numerals and letters). Way to make learning fun, blue jays! #WillowStrong #BlueJaysSoar #WeAreKISD #kisdkidswinning #learninginaction
