Valentine's Day is coming up! This week, our students will be writing letters on Valentine cards to their peers and staff. It's so important to share appreciation to each other, not just on Valentine's Day but everyday. A letter can be so impactful and can brighten someone's day for days, even weeks!
Parents and guardians can help too! If you want to send a note to a staff member, please send us a message on Facebook messenger or email to Jennise.Colinventura@killeenisd.org. The message will be copied/pasted on a Valentine's Card and delivered on Friday, February 13th. Include name of staff member or department and your name.
(Our PTO is doing Valentine's Day Grams for students so contact them via email ugmsptopresident@gmail.com or contact them on UGMS PTO on Facebook. Their flyer is posted on their Facebook page and our Facebook page.)

KISD supports student expression that is safe, respectful, and does not interrupt instruction. Families may wish to discuss alternatives to walkouts with their student, such as: passive expression (wearing a specific color of clothing, wristband, or button, as permitted by the Killeen ISD dress code), writing a letter or email to an elected official such as a member of Congress, or participating in discussions or community events outside of school hours.
The Texas Education Agency issued guidance to school districts on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, reinforcing that districts must protect instruction during the school day and follow state law and attendance requirements. Killeen ISD will follow this guidance.
In Killeen ISD, the focus remains on student safety and keeping students engaged in learning.
As a reminder, secondary campuses in Killeen ISD are closed campuses. Students may not leave campus during the school day without being signed out by a parent/guardian through the front office.
Any student who participates in a walkout will be marked absent and receive discipline consequences under attendance and truancy policies, as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
Under Killeen ISD policy FNCI(Legal), disruptive activity on school property include actions such as obstructing entrances, exits, or hallways or interfering with school operations. Student behavior that meets this definition will result in disciplinary consequences, including up to a Class B misdemeanor under the Texas Education Code § 37.123.
Killeen ISD respects student free speech and want students to be heard in ways that are safe, respectful, and appropriate during the school day. KISD thanks families for their partnership in keeping campuses safe and focused on learning.
A message was sent directly to parents/guardians of middle and high school students.
