What's your favorite thing about teaching?

"As a new teacher 27 years ago, I was asked, “What do you love about teaching?” My response was, "My favorite thing about teaching is working with kids." Since then, my favorite aspect of teaching has changed and evolved. I love seeing the looks in students’ eyes when they’ve struggled with a concept and eventually overcome that struggle. Being called “Mom” and “Grandma” makes me smile every time. However, I think the greatest joy is when students and their parents return to me years after they’ve left my classroom to tell me I made a difference in their lives."
