Welcome to the Boys and Girls Club at Liberty Hill
Hello, my name is Emilio Montez and I am the Unit Director for Liberty Hill’s Boys & Girls Club. I am here to help answer some frequently asked questions I receive about my Club.
B&GC FAQ:
Is Club free?
Yes, all middle school Boys & Girls Club sites are entirely free for any and all active Liberty Hill students.
What do you do in Club?
Our focus in my Club is to have members leave better than how they entered. The staff make Club time intentional giving members a balance of physical and mental activities. We run programs designed to help members look forward to their futures. We are not a cell-phone/video game Club!
What programs do you offer?
Through our Community Youth Development (CYD) programs, members are taught about post-secondary education and career opportunities as well as learn how to budget, save and the cost of real world dollars. Young women will go through our SMART Girls program which helps our young women start to bond with each other and learn about the challenges they face day to day. Young men will go through our Passport 2 Manhood program which helps prepare our boys to one day pass the threshold into manhood, with what manhood means and how we can better ourselves and break generational or societal expectations.
Where do you run Club?
B&GC runs Club out of Liberty Hill itself. Typically in the cafeteria but always within the school, after school, any time Liberty is open and operating, my staff and I will be there!
How does my member leave Club?
Members are free to leave when you need them to. For walkers, we send them home at 6:00 PM (switched to 5:30 during DST) as long as their parent/guardian is aware. For pick up, call the Club phone and my staff will direct you as to which door to pick up from.
How do I know my child will be safe?
All B&GC staff are intentionally trained to work and engage with students that are of middle school age. Having a child of their own, the Unit Director, Emilio Montez, understands the worries parents can face. Safety is the number one priority for Club.
How can I contact the Unit Director? By either calling the Club’s phone at (254) 251-7448 or contacting emontez@bgctx.org
