Human Sexuality and Adolescent Wellness Curriculum

  • The Killeen Independent School District provides human sexuality and prevention of child abuse, family violence, dating violence, and sex trafficking instruction to all middle school students during their last curriculum unit in science. The content of the curriculum is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Health Education (TEC §28.002; TAC §74.1 & §74.2). All content has been reviewed by the Killeen ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) and is grade-level specific and developmentally appropriate.

Killeen ISD believes that sexuality education begins at home. Parents or legal guardians are the primary educators of their children and can be the most important influence on their child’s health decisions. The lessons your child will receive in school are designed to reinforce what parents or legal guardians are teaching at home, not to replace it.

The curriculum that will be used is Dr. Patricia Sulak, Living Well Aware and can be previewed by parents at https://www.livingwellaware.com/315720_2.
