Mrs. Amanda Guhlin

Hello! My name is Amanda Guhlin, and this is my 6th year as a counselor at KHS. I serve students with the last names C-F.

I was born in Austin, Texas, but I grew up in Dallas. I attended Texas State University where I graduated with a BA in English. I then moved to Pennsylvania for a couple of years where I earned my Master’s in Education. Pennsylvania was nice, but I can’t drive in snow, and I really missed salsa. So, after I graduated, my husband and I quickly hightailed it back to Texas. I later received my counseling certification after teaching English here at KHS for 4 years.

My husband and I met at Texas State and have been together for 16 years. We have two beautiful little girls, ages 5 and 2, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I also have three dogs, and often feel like I live in a zoo, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My hobbies include drinking A LOT of coffee, spending time with my family, and sneaking in naps on the weekends whenever possible. I never used to think of napping as a hobby, but 2 kids and 3 dogs later, I now know it definitely is.

I love working with my students and seeing their journeys. Each day brings new experiences, and I feel blessed to be a part of their lives. It’s important to me that my students know that I provide a safe haven for them to talk about whatever concerns them. My number one priority is helping them navigate their lives through high school and prepare them the best way I can for life after they leave here.
