Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Amy Sobers

Hello, amazing families of Alice W. Douse Elementary School.  I am Amy Sobers, a school counselor on campus. I started my journey with KISD as a special education aide for 10 years at Mountain View Elementary School. With a desire for helping and advocating for students and families. I completed a bachelor’s degree in social work and started a career as a social worker at Temple High School, where I worked for 4 years. I then obtained my alternative certification to teach and came back to KISD to teach 1st Grade for the next 5 years. The last two years, I worked as a Dyslexia Case Manager while obtaining my master’s degree in school counseling. I am starting my first year of my dream job at this wonderful school, Alice W. Douse. I have been very blessed to have all of the wonderful experiences in schools, fulfilling my passion for making a difference in the lives of all of the spectacular children that fill the classrooms each day. I wake up each morning excited to support, encourage, advocate for, and learn from the students, families, admin, teachers, and staff on this campus. I look so forward to serving the students, families, and teachers throughout the year and helping to ensure a positive and successful year of learning and growth for all children.

In addition to being a school counselor, I am a mother to three beautiful daughters, a wife, daughter, sister, and Godmother to my precious Godson and Goddaughter. I feel very blessed to live in the lovely moments that each day can bring. When I am not at school, I enjoy making memories with my family, doing yoga, hiking, kayaking, and reading. I love fresh air, sunshine, and new perspectives. I truly believe that kindness and understanding can make all the difference. We are all in this together. I just know this will be the best school year ever.
