Alyssa Goodman
Assistant Principal
Hello! I’m Alyssa Goodman, and I’m excited to share my journey with you. Originally from Chicago, I served in the Army before pursuing my passion for education. I hold a Bachelor's degree in American History from Texas A&M University, where my passion for history began to take shape. I furthered my education with a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University Central Texas, equipping myself with the skills to support and inspire both students and educators. Most recently, I earned a Master’s in Museum Education and Science from Johns Hopkins University, combining my love for history and education with a focus on innovative learning experiences. This diverse educational background fuels my commitment to creating engaging and impactful learning environments for all.
I had the privilege of teaching U.S. History at Shoemaker High School for 16 years, where I witnessed countless students discover the importance of history prior to transitioning into an administrative role as a Campus Facilitator for Special Programs and then as an Assistant Principal at Nolan Middle School, gaining valuable experience in leadership and support for both students and staff. I’m thrilled to be back at Shoemaker High School as an Assistant Principal, where I continue to foster a positive learning environment and help shape the next generation of leaders. I believe in the power of education to transform lives and am dedicated to making a lasting impact on our community.
I’m proud to be a parent to two incredible daughters who each light up my life in their own unique ways. My 21-year-old daughter, Reese, is currently pursuing her degree in Social Work at Stephen F. Austin University. Her passion for helping others inspires me every day, and I can’t wait to see the positive impact she will make in the world. My youngest, Giulia, is 6 years old and full of energy and imagination. She loves to dance and has a natural talent for storytelling through her love of reading. Watching her express herself through movement and books brings me so much joy. Together, they keep our household lively and remind me of the beauty in both growth and play!
