Cornelia Crittenden
Cornelia Crittenden is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina. She graduated from Seventy-First High School, where she participated in Track and Field, Volleyball, and Student Council. Cornelia began her academic pursuit at Fayetteville State University as a Chancellor's Scholar, earning a bachelor's in psychology. Then, she entered the University of Maryland, where she studied psychology counseling. Continuing her journey, she became a Texas A and M Foundation Scholar at Texas A and M University-Central Texas, earning a master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Cornelia completed the Instructional Leader preparation at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas.
Cornelia Crittenden brings her unwavering commitment to the ECHS team, backed by nearly three decades of experience serving children and families. Her diverse experience includes serving as a special education teacher in Fayetteville, NC, Grafenwoehr, Germany, Killeen, and Lewisville, Texas. She then transitioned to Family Programs as a Department of the Army Civilian, supporting unit commanders and ensuring family readiness. Her dedication led her to the Military Child Education Coalition as a consultant, where she facilitated collaboration between Killeen ISD and the Department of Education Defense Education Activity. She also served as a Grant Facilitator with ESC Region 12, working with campuses, families, and communities to improve student academic performance and readiness. Most recently, Cornelia worked with Texas College Preparatory Academy and Premier High School to increase career and college readiness among special population students.
Cornelia received several awards and recognition for her commitment and service to children and families. Her awards include The Yellow Rose of Texas-Govenor's Citation, the Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Medal, the Commander's Medal for Public Service (3X), and induction into the Texas A&M Society for Success and Leadership.
Cornelia is a proud wife to Alter, a retired warrant officer and current educator. Cornelia is an avid sports fan and enjoys exercising, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends. Theirs is a blended family of four adult sons. Their family mantra is "Show up, Work hard, and Tell the truth." The principles of being available and present, working hard, and personal integrity guide Cornelia professionally and personally.
